Bruce McEwan

Graduated with B.Sc in Geology from Aberdeen University in 1973. Joined the oil industry late 1973 working initially in Middle East as mud logger before progressing to data engineer and moving to the Far East. Started working as a consultant offshore Drilling Engineer for Shell in Sarawak in 1979. Worked in various offshore and onshore positions in the Far East until returning to Aberdeen in 1991 to work for Shell as a design/operations engineer for many of their HPHT exploration wells. Currently involved with ongoing Shearwater HPHT development work.

Grant Affleck
Business Development Manager
Global Technology Drilling Services, Weatherford

Grant has over 20 years of experience in the oilfield, with much of it in and around the HPHT niche from its early days on Elgin / Franklin to today’s wider marketplace. With a degree in Geology he hopes to leave it all behind and get a real job one day. He enjoys spending time with his family and advertising by leaving logo bearing golf balls in various strategic ( and out of the way) locations.

29 years of Oilfield Engineering experience, specializing in Blowout Preventers and Pressure Control equipment. Melvyn is the named inventor on 12 United States and numerous international Patents. He is also the Chairman of API SC16 committee and a subsea equipment instructor for BP/Chevron Texaco, Drilling Training Alliance

Tore Larsen

Tore Larsen has 8 years of experience on research projects for the oil and gas industry focusing on scale-salts and scale related issues. Expertise includes extensive use of the computer code “Multiscale” for designing and understanding lab experiments on scale issues as well as scale predictions in hydrocarbon producers.

Preben Randhol

SINTEF Petroleum Research

Preben Randhol has 13 years of experience conducting international R&D projects for the petroleum industry. He has worked closely with the industry on mineral deposition and well technology projects. Current position is Senior Scientist at Production Technology. Recent experience is on projects for improved well integrity on the Norwegian Continental Shelf

Jim Manson

Maersk Oil UK

Jim is currently HPHT Team Leader for Maersk Oil North Sea UK Ltd. >24 years oilfield experience. He achieved his grounding in Drilling and Completions through staff positions with BP and Shell International , before working the last 15 years as an independent consultant primarily working long term contracts for Talisman, Kerr McGee & Maersk. Jim has a BSc in Civil Engineering from the University of Edinburgh, UK and MSc in Petroleum Engineering from Strathclyde University , UK. He is also a Chartered Engineer registered with FEANI. Maersk UK currently have a portfolio of challenging exploration HPHT prospects to be drilled in 2011/2012 as wells a two well appraisal campaign on the Culzean HPHT field to be drilled and well tested from the summer of 2010 onwards.
